Professional care of individuals and patients of all ages is defined as nursing. Nursing care is for all individuals, whether they are sick or well. Nurses give nursing care. Individuals need nursing care to lower their risk of illness. Early disease diagnosis is made possible by nursing care. Treatments are given in this way at a very young age. A patient’s physical and emotional health depend on nursing care. Nurses gives them care either in hospitals or at home.
Nursing Care in the Form of Home Nursing
Nurses provide care to patients at their homes who are discharged from the hospital but require proper recovery care. In this case, patients hire nurses for their care until their recovery. It is sometimes tough to see our loved ones in hospitals. Patients hire nurses for their proper care after being discharged from hospitals. Nursing assignment properly guides how nursing care is essential for a patient’s physical and mental well-being.
Methods of Nursing Care
Different methods help in nursing care. These methods include: –
- Functional nursing
- Individual care
- Team nursing
- Primary nursing
What is Functional Nursing?
In this method, different tasks are distributed among licensed and unlicensed nurses. The head nurse is responsible for cosigning the task to their junior nurses. Everyone is responsible for the accomplishment of their task in the functional method. Nurses can accomplish their tasks faster because they repeat it many times. In this way, they have a better chance of gaining career skills. The functional method also enhances teamwork because they collaborate to complete assigned tasks and can build confidence and trust with each other.
What is the Individual Care Nursing Method?
Individual care nursing is also termed personalized and individualized care. Individual care is applied if the attendant is skilled because individual nursing care is home nursing and given at home. A proper plan is required for the individual care nursing method by the attendant, so this method has excellent exposure for better caring of patients. Individual nursing care is not only responsible for the better physical and mental well-being of patient but also have more chances to diagnose a disease because the nurse has to pay attention to only one patient at a time.
What is the Team Nursing Method?
The team nursing method means providing care for patients as a team. More than one nurse works together as a team for the better health of a group of patients. All the staff members are answered to the head staff. Nurses play different roles in collaboration so they can diagnose symptoms and do treatment in a better way. All the staff members perform their duties under the supervision of their leader. The team nursing method is applied in hospitals. This method is applied in a pandemic situation in a nation because of a shortage of nurses. The team nursing method positively influences patient’s health if tasks are accomplished with proper supervision.
Primary nursing was developed in 1970. It is association-based nursing because a strong relationship between patients and nurses has been established. In the primary nursing method, only one nurse is responsible for caring, such as bandaging, diagnosing disease, treatment of disease, etc.; only one nurse is responsible for one or more patients from admission to the hospital until discharge. Other staff members also collaborate with the nurse supervising the patients from admission to discharge. Primary nursing helps to demonstrate better communication skills between the nurse, patients, and other staff members. Patients feel better and cooperate best if only one nurse is handling them.
The correct care of patients depends on nursing care. Patients receive nursing care in both hospital and home settings. Patients feel better and cooperate reasonably in the case of home nursing rather than in hospitals. Different nursing methods, such as functional, primary, individual, and team nursing, are applied to patient care.
